Pre-Tryout Camp: Building Connections On & Off the Field

The pre-tryout camp functions as a season preparation period which allows both players and coaches to develop mutual understanding through casual supportive interactions. The camp provides players with a chance to demonstrate their abilities while asking questions about our coaching approach while coaches study each athlete's abilities and individual characteristics and objectives.

The camp serves dual purposes of relationship development and open communication establishment while building immediate team unity. Our goal is to create an atmosphere where every player feels at ease while building confidence and enthusiasm for joining the West Michigan Galaxy family. Our pre-tryout camp serves as the ideal beginning point for all players who want to join our club whether they are new or returning for another successful season.

Club Philosophy & Player Development

  • What is the club's overarching philosophy on player development?

Our club philosophy is focused on player development and creating creative and confident players while providing an environment where they can be themselves, work hard and develop a love for the game.

  • How does the club support players' progression both on and off the field?

We believe in supporting the growth of our players both on and off the field. We communicate regularly with our families, to provide updates on what the players are working on in training and how our coaches support them to grow on and off the field.

  • What pathways exist for players aiming for higher levels, such as collegiate or professional soccer?

Our players compete in GVSA (Select) and MSPSP (Premier) levels of competition. As our players grow they have the opportunities to continue to play with Galaxy all the way through High School and have the opportunities to take their playing career to the next level.

Coaching Staff & Training

  • Who are the coaches for my child's age group, and what are their qualifications?

In season, players will train twice per week and also have the option for additional training if they choose.  Off season, players will train once per week with the option for additional training opportunities if they choose to join.  If you have conflicts for training, communicate directly with your coach so they are aware.
